Welcome to At Home With The Boy’s –
A Brief Introduction
I have always lived my life on the side of caution. Prepared myself for the unexpected and the ‘what if’s?’ life would so often throw my way. So as you can imagine, handing my notice in after spending twenty years of hard work, wasn’t something I was particularly keen to do.
But there was however, a very good reason for doing so. You see, at the age of forty one, I was about to become a full time dad to my two little boys.
There are of course, many parents that would have jumped at the opportunity whilst for others, this may not have been such a big deal. But for me, it was. I had worked so hard to get to where I had gotten to but four weeks from handing in my notice, it was out with the old and in with the new. A journey was about to begin that, given my past, I never dreamt was possible.
In the first few weeks, I recall trying to convince myself that everything would be fine. The words -‘It’s not going to be forever’ would often get me through those first few months of nappy changing, early morning feeds and cleaning up vomit.
Sure, we have our ups and downs with some days having more downs than ups, but we sort things out and we get there. And now, after just a few years of growing up together, a bond between me and the boys has developed that can only be described as ‘A devoted bond between farther and sons’.
Follow our blog and discover just some of the things we get up to. You never know, you might find yourself in the same situation one day!
